Why we struggle with healthy eating…
Since we lack dopamine, we don’t get as much satisfaction or stimulation from things as other people, meaning we’re more likely to turn to food when we’re bored, which can lead to bingeing on foods that offer an immediate reward (usually sugar). On top of that, our lack of executive functioning skills make it harder for us to have healthy meals planned consistently, leading us to reach for convenient, less nutritious foods.
So many people come to me feeling like a failure because they’re not able to eat healthy, lose weight, or follow a strict diet plan….but we’re not meant to follow a strict diet plan! Diet culture makes us think we need to be on a plan in order to be healthy, and that’s just not true!
How I can help…
I teach my clients how to listen to their bodies…to become aware of the reasons they’re bingeing or unable to eat healthy meals consistently. More often than not, it comes down to poor planning, time blindness, and lack of balanced meals to prevent “HANGER” from rolling in.
I will help you figure out exactly what you need to feel better mentally and physically by digging deep and helping you pinpoint any guilt, shame, food rules, or issues with executive functioning that are holding you back from feeling your best.
I will not only help you learn to eat more mindfully, but I will teach you how to plan healthy meals, shop, and cook in ways that work best for your unique ADHD brain. I do this by providing you with a holistic toolkit that improves your diet, exercise, sleep, stress, supplements, and chronic disease management (if needed).
